There is something so very appealing about the Barbican. Whether it's the scheme's shear scale or perhaps the delicious employment of concrete. Maybe it's the humble beginnings as a design competition 'submitted by a couple a academic lads' or the emblem that it has become for a vision of utopia manifest, I'm yet to meet an architect that doesn't hold dear this part of London.
The Guardian has released, this week, photographs of the Barbican under construction and they are wonderful. Take a look.
